About California Energy Initiatives

Responding to the challenges faced by those working to advance California’s landmark climate change legislation, California Energy Initiatives (CEI) profiles the geographic distribution of the state’s nearly 500 million tons of greenhouse gas emissions. Using a single methodology, and consistent timeframes and data, CEI shows what each of California’s more than 500 jurisdictions will need to do to arrive at 2020 and 2050 GHG objectives, in line with California’s climate change legislation. We show the tradeoffs and economics inherent in various policy options, and our analytical toolset helps establish plans, initiatives, and “score keeping”.

CEI support California’s decision makers, both public and private, assess energy and climate change issues, link them to strategies centered upon GHG reduction that are economically viable, technically feasible and can be adequately resourced, and leverage those initiatives towards enhanced economic development.
